Description

Arimidex (Anastrozole) was the first selective aromatase inhibitor used in bodybuilding, and is still the most popular estrogen control drug. It’s commonly available in both tablet and liquid form for oral use. Dosing is typically 0.25, 0.5, or 1.0 mg at a time, at a frequency of once per day or per two days.

First, when an anabolic steroid cycle causes very aromatizable steroid levels and there is no control of the aromatase enzyme, conversion to estradiol becomes excessive. The resulting high estradiol can cause gynecomastia, water retention, depression, and/or loss of libido. It may also make it difficult to maintain a lean condition.

And second, some men have excessive estradiol levels even when not on an anabolic steroid cycle. This will act to decrease their natural testosterone production, and can also cause the above adverse side effects.

How anastrozole works

Hormones are substances produced naturally in the body. They act as chemical messengers and help control the activity of cells and organs. Hormonal therapies interfere with the way hormones are made or how they work in the body. Many breast cancers rely on the hormone oestrogen to grow. This type of breast cancer is called oestrogen receptor-positive (ER positive) breast cancer.

After the menopause, oestrogen is no longer made in the ovaries. Instead, it’s made in the fatty tissues of the body. This happens when an enzyme called aromatase changes other hormones into oestrogen. Anastrozole is a drug called an aromatase inhibitor. It blocks this process and reduces the amount of oestrogen in the body.

When a man uses anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS), certain compounds will aromatize into estrogen. On the other hand, if you are too aggressive in inhibiting estrogen, by using compounds that are harsher than Arimidex, this can cause your estrogen to drop too low. As a result, you can expect erectile disfunction (ED), loss of energy, depression and low libido.

For different types of people

Although Arimidex does increase testosterone levels slightly in the body, it is more often used in conjunction with other steroids to lower estrogen in the body. Many anabolic steroids will convert, or aromatize, in the body into estrogen, which causes many of the unwanted side effects like bloating and acne. Arimidex is one of the best compounds to lower the aromatizing effect of steroids.

As to female. Many breast cancers are stimulated to grow by the female sex hormones oestrogen and progesterone.
